The Kingdom of God...

Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does not come with signs to be observed or with visible display, Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you] [Luke 17:20-21 AMPC]

The Pharisees came to Jesus. They were so curious to know when the Kingdom of God would come, what would be the signs that it is on the way, and when it eventually comes, what physical things will men begin to see and what tangible things would it bring? They thought that the Kingdom of God was something physical. They are like many people today who also feel that getting God always translates to physical and material gains. Jesus in answering, was quick to reveal that the Kingdom of God is not an event , rather, it is an experience – a personal internal experience. The kingdom of God is not a ceremony. It is not an award or a jackpot that you win. The Kingdom of God is not a materialistic, tangible entity that you can catch, or pack into your house. Instead, it is a spiritual occurrence that takes place within any man in whom heaven has been enthroned.

Whereas, the Kingdom of this world comes with lots of glamour and grandeur, the kingdom of this world is judged by the accumulation of materials, the exaltation of self, the announcement of names, winning of awards, having big accolades and titles, possessing things that place you higher than others in terms of wealth, status, position in society, influence or what have you…, the Kingdom of God is completely different, it is a spiritual matter. It does not come with observation, shape or similitude of any physical entity. Jesus Christ simply explained that “the Kingdom of God is within you. The kingdom of God is inside you…”

To possess the kingdom of this world, sometimes you have to do manifesto and cajole men to vote for you. Lots of competition is involved before you can be favoured to possess part of the kingdom of this world. But, the kingdom of God is different.

There is a lot of misconceptions today, especially among those who claim to be Christians. Many have misplaced priorities and mistaken the Kingdom of this world to mean the Kingdom of God. They judge how much of God you have by the physical things around you that can be seen, measured and calculated. But this is NOT the Kingdom of God.

The question today is, “What is this kingdom of God that exists within a man?”.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD John 3:3, 5.

From here, it is clear that the Kingdom of God is what a man SEES once he is born again. The Kingdom of God is what you ENTER and PARTAKE OF when you give your life to Jesus. Do you sometimes wonder that when someone is born again, he is so excited and captivated because he found Jesus? It is because the eyes of that man have now been opened. He has now SEEN and ENTERED into the Kingdom of God.

Of course, what we are familiar with is that the kingdom of God comes in heaven at last. Yes this is true, but that Kingdom of God begins here. If you do not have the kingdom of God within you NOW and TODAY, you cannot get to the Kingdom of God in heaven at the end of time. Only those in whom the kingdom of God abides now, have the ticket to gain entrance into the eternal heavens eventually.

When you are truly and sincerely born again, the kingdom of God will be automatically formed within you. All your thoughts will be about your eternal home. Your aspirations will change, your desires will be transformed. When you are alone, the ruminations that are going on within your thoughts are all about things that affect eternity. The joy of the Lord, the joy of having an eternal home will flood your thoughts.

When you see a man in whom the kingdom of God is already established, that man will be beaming with joy. That joy is NOT the joy of having money, the joy of passing exams, getting a good certificate or giving birth to a new child. No! this joy is the joy of the Lord. It is the joy of having your sins forgiven with your name written now in the book of life. It is the joy of living eternally with God. He may not have the goods and the gadgets of this world, he may not be highly placed within the society, he may not even have a voice within his family setting because he does not have much in his pocket, but, you will always see him joyful, and you will be wondering, "Mr. man, what is the source of your joy? You do not have money, clothes or anything! what makes you so happy?", and the man with joy will reply "I am so glad that Jesus loves me... Jesus loves even me!!! I have got a mansion in heaven, and I am rejoicing because my sins are forgiven. Hallelujah"

Do you claim to be born again, but you do not have the kingdom of God within you? I counsel you to check the authenticity of your profession because you may be deceiving yourself. When all your thoughts are about this world, and there is no hunger for the things of heaven within your heart, then, all that is in you, is NOT the kingdom of God, it is THE KINGDOM OF THIS WORLD. If all your discussions with friends and loved ones are about how to be comfortable here!! You always discuss about clothes, shoes, bags, club, how your face looks, how to travel abroad, how to get better job, how to be a big man and have a name in the world so that you can be respected, all your aspirations are enclosed within the four walls of this terrestrial world, even when you pray, you use the name of Jesus to secure a better earthly life for yourself, and you are always claiming your right in this world. Your testimonies are all summed up in the physical things that you have gathered in this world over time… then, what is within you IS NOT THE KINGDOM OF GOD, it is the kingdom of this world.

When the kingdom of God sits within your heart, you will suddenly lose interest in all that the world is running after, which have been your own pursuit too for many years. Those things will become insignificant and subservient to the kingdom of God that has consumed and overwhelmed you now. Before, when you had one or two days of holiday, because your heart was filled with the kingdom of this world, you were thinking of how you could use it to hang out with friends, gist and enjoy yourself at the club or watch numerous movies to while away your time, but now, it is no more like that, the Kingdom of God has filled your thoughts. You now think of how you can spend more time with Jesus, just to love, discover and know Him more in His word. Spiritual things now appeal to your taste, all appetites for the world has been lost.

"Verily, verily I say unto you, except a man is born again, he cannot SEE the kingdom of God". He cannot DESIRE or APPRECIATE the kingdom of God. He will enjoy the lusts of the flesh while the kingdom of God, which is spiritual, will be cumbersome unto him.

Are you still blind and cannot yet see the Kingdom of God? It is because you are not born again. All you see is how far your natural eyes can take you. You can appreciate worldly beauty, admire fine clothes and admire good buildings. You are addicted to sports and all these latest technology. All that the world presents before you are glistering, shinning and inviting, but, you cannot pierce into the Spiritual to behold the wonders of the kingdom of God. You need to be born again. Natural eyes cannot pierce into eternal things: The Bible says "except a man is Born Again, he cannot SEE the Kingdom of God…He will continue to SEE the Kingdom of this world that fades away.

Friend, what are you seeing? One major criteria that differentiates spiritual men from physical men, is THEIR EYES. What you see determines your taste. It is what propels you. Your sight determines your flight, and at what speed, direction and vigour you go. When your eyes are on scholarship for instance, a child will read, prepare, study, and leave every other thing to concentrate on his books. He must clinch this scholarship at all cost because that is where his eyes are. When you see a businessman in a big gathering, even though the gathering is not about business, but because his eyes are on business, he will begin to find out how he can use the crowd to further his business.

Friend, where are your eyes? What do you see? Are you the worldly Christian whose desires are hinged on physical things? For you, the solution to your problems and needs is always hinged on ephemeral things, God is not in your thoughts at all… your eyes and taste are ONLY captivated by the kingdom of the world - the fashion and the technology of the world, the good business, academic growth, comfort, accumulating gadgets, affections for socials... that is all that wows you, nothing eternal gets you excited? The things that give you joy are only what can be obtained in this world, which every sinner and those who do not have anything to do with God also enjoy? The reason why you cannot see the Kingdom of God is simply because you are not born again.

Dont think you will get into the Kingdom of God in heaven if you do not first have the Kingdom of God within your heart here on earth. If nothing in you enjoys God and longs for His presence within your breast today, it is an indication that you do not have the new life of Christ through the born again experience.

Lots of people prophecy today, they say "you will go up", "you will get to the next level", "you will increase and enlarge and multiply so abundantly"... they speak with all authority from the word of God that you will be above only and not beneath... but when you gauge all their prophecies, you will find out that they are not talking about heaven. The bogus prophecies are still all about the things of this world - having money, being big and comfortable - the kingdom of this world and how to be comfortable in it.
Except a man is born again, he will never see beyond his noses. He will continue to appreciate the world and desire it. The kingdom of heaven would never carry weight in his heart. And sadly, such a man can never make it to heaven at last. Are you born again? Have you met Jesus? Do you have that glorious new birth experience when heaven came down and glory filled your soul? Is the Kingdom of God within your breast today?
