...Weekly insights into scriptures by Olumide AyodeleA Signpost for destruction.
...And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king. Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself, and tomorrow am I invited unto her also with the king. [Esther 5:11-12]
When a man has deliberately taken it upon himself to pit himself against God by turning deaf ears to His repeated warnings and corrections, and behaves terribly, It is very possible that God would be preparing such a man for destruction. God can be taking His time over the life of a disobedient, incorrigible man, who has completely refused divine counsel either by his lifestyle or behaviors just to make that man a signpost for others. God can be very patient over his incorrigibility just to destroy him, or to make him a scapegoat - an example of a failed mandate.
After God has used all means available within His patience limit to draw you unto Himself, if you refuse the tender love of Jesus, and decide with a hardened heart to continue in your iniquities, like what He did unto Israel, the Lord could do it again to you "in love", only that it will not be palatable.
God could be keeping a man to use as a signpost unto failure, a signboard showing other careless men what the end of a disobedient life will look like. God can use the ministry of any man as an example of a failed ministry because the minister himself is a Pharaoh who resisted the love of God, His mercy and correction vehemently.
When God has tried every means to correct a man and make him think reasonably, and such a man would not heed the numerous warnings of the Lord, I see that God does not just cut such men off at once in His sore displeasure like men do. If it was not God, but a mortal man dealing with a situation like this, man would rather have got very angry to destroy such recalcitrant people one-off in his anger. But this is not so with God many times.
God will still be keeping those men fat and pleasurable in their iniquity, He could be promoting them even. He could be setting them up so high, so that when eventually they fall, it will be from a very great height, and their crash would be so heavy, such that it would serve as a very good, clear example of failure unto other men who do not want to take heed.
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated... For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. [Romans 9:13,17 KJV]
Many examples of men like this exist in Scriptures. Pharaoh was such a man of whom God boldly declared concerning him "for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth". Another man used by God as an example of failure is given to us in the text above, his name was Haman. When Haman was being promoted and exalted and singled out for special dinners, he did not know that his fall was being arranged such that it will be a great one. The magnitude of damage and disaster from a fall increases with height. The higher you climb, the more catastrophic your destruction will be if you fall from that height.
Haman was being lifted so high so that his eventual fall from a great height would serve as a very clear and painful warning to everyone. There were several other men like that in the Bible - E.g. Nebuchadnezzar, etc...
What is that questionable, horrible, terrible and evil thing you are presently engaged in, which God is daily warning you against, and yet, you refuse to heed correction? You are so smart in concealing your evil, and you have not yet been caught!!! And now, it is even appearing that God is the One helping you to conceal your rottenness very well from being exposed, and therefore, you are becoming very brave now to continue in the iniquity... Dont you think that God is beginning with that means to keep you, preserve you in the sin until it becomes very big, and until you have advanced so high in that evil, so that your eventual fall will be so devastating and great and it will serve as a weighty and effective deterrent to those who must take heed?
If your sin looks very little and God is cautioning you to repent, but you ignore it and you continue, take note that such little sin will continue to graduate and get bigger. If you still refuse to quickly surrender to God and repent just because you have not been caught in that sin, it will come to a time that God Himself will turn His back against you, He will now by Himself help you to be concealing that sin from being exposed. God will help you to keep your secret secret and watch your sin grow to become so heavy secretly. After then, it will burst open in such a manner that it will spread and splash across generations as "A signpost for others to take heed".
Do not degenerate to a point where God will prepare you or your ministry as an example of disobedience. Dont degenerate to the level of Pharaoh... What a terrible example Pharaoh was to every pilgrim...
They kept exalting Haman from one degree to another, from one position to another, from one banquet to another merriment, from "accolades" to "recognition" to "worship" to "reverence" to the point that even the Queen recognized him... Yet, he never sat down in retrospect to query these elevations he was getting that were without his personal credibility. He never thought of querying being awarded promotions without corresponding works from him that merited them. He was getting certificate without any examinations. He was bagging promotions without appraisals. He was being given positions without any justifiable qualifications. He never thought to repent and honour God... He did not know that he was only being exalted day by day so that when his time to crashland will come, great will be that fall to the extent that he will shatter into pieces...
