Wanted: Deep Men

And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. [Luke 2:18-19]

"…all they that heard… WONDERED … but Mary… PONDERED…"

Spiritual men are deep. They know that nothing just happens without a spiritual backing. Others may be amazed at the occurrences, several ordinary people may be momentarily ecstatic when some great things happen, or they may be gloomy at the negative turns of events, some others may simply be wondering about issues, and just pass it by with few reasonings of the brain. But spiritual men know deeper, and will look from heaven's perspective, they will ponder, rather than just wonder…

Many times, God is speaking so clearly, but light men, men who are feeble, vague, carnal and worldly never receive divine insights into deep spiritual realities. They only skim things at the surface, and rejoice only about the physical – goods and tangibles. The true riches that are available deep within, are not their desire, because those riches are in the realm of the spiritual. Light men are not willing to go the extra mile to seek for deeper revelations of seeming parables that are coming from the lips of The Lord. For them, parables alone can satisfy them. The treasures that lie buried within those parables ever remain untapped because they are not willing to dig deeper into God, they are simply associates with God, and never truly encounter Him.

And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. [Acts 9:7]

Light men, like the acquaintances of Saul on his way to Damascus, are they which may hear some thunderings, they may hear some loud noise, but their ears are held back from perception. Their hearts are not deep, tender enough to receive the revelations of God's voice, and their eyes, though widely opened physically, are blind. Even though God is speaking apparently, they can't pick it. They have ears, but they cannot hear, they have eyes, but the eyes are just ordinary decorations in front of their heads, they cannot see beyond the ordinary physical things that other men also see. To them, life is all about the physical, and they never come up higher for the sweeter things of the Spirit. They are not hungry. Their definitions for great things are the worldly perishables - goods, gadgets and money which are transient and are not eternal...

But for spiritual men, life is defined in the perspective of the Spirit. They are not satisfied with crumbs that fall from the Master's table, no, they want the real food. They are not dogs who concentrate on leftovers. They are the children, who want to partake of the riches and the depths of divine greatness.

When the woman of Canaan cried unto Jesus on behalf of her daughter that was vexed with a devil (read account in Matthew 15:22-28), she expressed “great faith” before Jesus by accepting that she was a dog, just to get some “little things” off Jesus. Many people today clamour and pray for such kind of “great faith”, but I noticed that her great faith was not great enough to make her a child in the Kingdom. I discover that those who are satisfied with little things are little men. Those who come just to rip some goods off Christ are not fit to be called the true disciples of His. You can trace the story of this woman and you will find out that alas, there was no record of her ever getting into the commonwealth of Israel. Hers was a hit and run affair, she was satisfied with crumbs, she got nothing more, she was truly a dog.

Deep spiritual men are not satisfied with congregational anointing, parables may open up a divine truth unto them, but they never stop at parables, they get deeper into the bosom of God in the closet, to question The Lord further on the hidden undisclosed depths which He has kept away from the multitudes.

Wanted today are men and women like Mary. Others may only wonder at issues, but the Marys are the spiritual men, who ponder deeply the things of God in their hearts and would not allow pregnant truths to pass them by without rooting out and exhuming its glorious hidden treasures.
