GODS VESSEL SERIES - 2

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. [Luke 1:34-37]


...The Holy Ghost shall...

Up unto this time, the Holy Ghost has not even been revealed vividly. Who is the Holy Ghost?, Is there anything/anyone like it/Him? Is He a personality, a force, a believe-system...? Even though His personality has not been made apparent, yet, the angel here spoke so clearly and assuredly about Him and about His capability and power. The angel spoke about the Holy Ghost just as one would speak of God. What he said would happen through the Holy Ghost was an impossibility that ONLY GOD could do, so he spoke as if He was God. Also, I noticed that Mary herself understood clearly who the personality of this Holy Ghost was.


...therefore also, THAT HOLY THING...shall be... GOD.

Because the Holy Spirit has worked, because the power of the Highest (which is still symbolic of the Holy Spirit) has overshadowed you, the ONLY clear result of His divine work is TO REVEAL GOD. It says "therefore (because of the working of the Holy Ghost), that holy thing which shall be born of thee SHALL BE called ... GOD". This connotes that when the Holy Spirit has worked, His outcome will be "God". Whatever the Holy Spirit does, the result thereof will simply be "the revelation of God". When the Holy Ghost works, His outcome cannot be compared with the normal, human results. His results are beautiful. When He works, heavenliness ensues, something not available on earth results, a beauty that is divine, a note of the divine attributes and nature of God comes out. If men on the streets and in the churches have not conformed to the divine nature, it is not that the men are stubborn, rather, it is because God has not found a man through whom His Holy Ghost can work seamlessly to produce a supernatural result that cannot be hindered in the lives of those men. The "therefore" here means that except the Holy Ghost has worked, we cannot have the holy thing called the Son of God, born of thee.

It is therefore clear that nothing godly can be done on earth except the Holy Ghost has worked. Whatever work that is done and is void of the divine working of the Holy Ghost CANNOT produce a divine result. Whatever revelation of supernatural occurrence that we are longing for, CANNOT happen except the Holy Ghost has worked. Inasmuch as we can do some things by several other means and we are not passionate for ONLY the things that the Holy Spirit MUST do, we can never have a lasting spiritual result.

All the outcomes of a carnal, human work can only produce something human, only spiritual work done in the power of the Holy Ghost can produce spiritual results. That means that if in all the outputs of my so called spiritual activities till date, I cannot see any divine colour, I cannot see something beyond human explanation, I cannot see a spiritual manifestation upon men, I cannot see Jesus revealed in men..., then all my labours have been in the flesh, in my own strength, by my expertise and knowledge, and never in the power of the Holy Ghost. When the Holy Ghost has worked, the ONLY result produced is a revelation of God.

If carnality is expressed in church, if souls are not getting saved, if Jesus is not revealed daily, if true disciples are not multiplying, if brokenness and true Christianity that the cross produces is scarce, if believers are growing more and more worldly and materialistic, if there is no passion for souls, passion for God, passion for heaven, if when 2 brothers meet, their discussions are more about shares, stocks, economy, politics, investments and life in this world, and they are not hungry for God and heaven, all these is an indication that the HOLY GHOST is not working. All our labours have revolved from the spirit into the flesh, we are still working, but it is no more the Holy Ghost working in and through us, but rather, WE, working. And these works are based on the much knowledge we have received overtime, and on our spiritual/religious expertise which, as good as they all sound, they are bankrupt. We have simply edged God out and taken over. Our operations and activities may of course resemble that of the Holy Ghost at work, but the results cannot resemble the spiritual beauties that radiate if it was the Holy Ghost that worked.

Also here, whatever the Holy Ghost was going to do in and through Mary, He did not need Mary to work it out, He only needed Mary as a vessel, a pipe through which HE will work. The Holy Ghost works and does His works by Himself without any human help. He will work if we will let Him. Many times we want to move the Holy Ghost, but, He is not a tool. Even if I am preaching the word, I am not to "push" the word to "hit" men, such will carnalize divine arrangement. Instead, I must release myself for God to use me, and not me, using Him.


...behold, thy cousin... hath also...

In this verse, the angel was simply giving a testimony to Mary of the wonderful works of God through the Holy Ghost. He simply noted how God in His love and power has answered Elizabeth, a close relative of Mary (meaning that this miraculous works of God was verifiable by Mary, not an abstract thing). Hence, if God could wrought wonders beyond human reasoning for a close cousin of Mary, how much more would He also do for Mary herself. He was simply saying and assuring Mary that the promises he gave, though abstract and physically unrealistic, God would surely bring it to fulfilment by the HOLY GHOST, just as He brought Elizabeths unrealistic issue also to pass.
