The Blessed Man...

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. [James 1:25]

...looketh into...

This is not just a mere looking at, it is not just "considering the word", it is not mere reading of the Bible, it is "looking into", a prolonged gaze, a sincere search in order to get something fresh and refreshing out, a passion to get a direction from Gods word to follow. It is a sincere faith in Gods word, and a decision to make it your guide and leader. It connotes that:

1. You have agreed that the word of God ONLY has the solution, the answer to ALL the issues of your life.

2. No matter what it is that you know before, it is too little, therefore, you have come to receive fresh, clear instructions and grace to handle life issues.

3. No matter how familiar any passage is, it is settled in you that Gods word for the hour is the fresh breath that God breathes into the seemingly common word. Gods word is not the letters, the letters only encapsulates the treasures within, which gentle seeking will break the shell through to reveal the glories within.

4. There is a very strong faith in you that the word will meet your needs, it will melt you and set you right

I must "look into" the word for revelation and salvation. The word must bless and transform, it must change and shape, it must show me my true nature and self.

...the perfect law of Liberty...

Do not be deceived, there is no other option or alternative to liberty anywhere except the "perfect law". The word of God, the Bible ONLY, is the one that encapsulates all that man needs to be free and be at liberty. The liberty to serve God, the liberty of the Spirit without any condemnation, the excitement and ecstasy in God is in His word.

...he being not a forgetful hearer...

He, being not lackadaisical about the revelations of the word of God. Being not unconcerned, not taking the word of God lightly. Not trivialising the word, but trembling under every instruction it gives. I must not allow the word to slip out of his hands. I must handle the word with great seriousness. This is the kind of man that God blesses.

...this man shall be blessed...

Who is the man that is blessed? How does a man receive blessing? The Bible is clear here on the man that will be blessed. It says it is the man that continues in His perfect law - the Word, and DOES exactly what the word commands. A doer of the work, the one that OBEYS without reservations or excuses, he is ardent and committed to obeying every divine word and injunction, such is the man that is blessed.

For every instruction that God gives, there is an action point for the hearer. There is something particular to do, A WORK, something that needs action. It is not sufficient to just hear the word and be happy with it, there is something it COMMANDS you to do. Until that is done, no man is blessed.

Many a times, we think that the man that is blessed is the one that the Pastor or the Prophet has pronounced blessings upon, so you find men saying, "oh!, Pastor is coming today, he will rain down Gods blessings upon us". You then find men during the "prayer of blessings session", they are so serious. If any little child or anyone wants to distract them at that time from receiving the blessing of the man of God, they can fight with such people. They will say, "I must get my blessing today". They will say potent "Amen" to all of the pronounced blessings with all their might. They do not care about the meticulous life of obedience that releases blessings that the Bible talks about, they are only looking for cheap ways, short cuts to blessings, it doesnt always happen like that.

The seriousness demanded in getting blessings, is not the one you portrayed when there is a 5 minutes prayer of the man of God. The seriousness demanded is in the meticulous OBEYING and DOING the WORK and the ACTIONS that the word of God requests on a daily basis. How many of several "prayers of blessings" have you received, yet, you are not yet blessed? It is because you have left the real issues that releases blessings out, while you are pursuing cheap methods.

Of course, there are times even in scriptures whereby the man of God released blessings upon his subjects and it was effected upon them and it came to fulfilment. But looking clearly at such instances, you discovered that the blessings released (most of the times) were based on the lives that the receivers lived. Jacob blessed his sons before he died, and the blessings were imputed upon them. But even though Rueben was the first born, I thought that he should automatically get the blessings accrued to firstborn sons, but no, the kind of life he lived determined the kind of blessings he got.
