...Weekly insights into scriptures by Olumide AyodeleIt is Written
But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. Because it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy. [1Peter 1:15-16]
Hmmm, it looks to me as if the reason to be holy is mainly because it is written!!! And if it was not written, no matter how crucial it is, it cannot be requested from man. Does this look like demeaning the character of God?, Does it look like making the personality of God of non effect, and you're saying "if God is holy Himself, and He demands holiness, does He have to write it before it will become what man must possess and comply with???"
Contrariwise, to me it looks as if 'forever O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven', it sounds like - the law of any land is never effective until it has been committed to the books, and is written down. The seriousness attached to any commandment in any nationality is depicted clearly when it is penned down in black and white. When the l...

The child grew...
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. [Luke 2:40]
The way the Bible described growth here is completely different from our own perspective of growth. Jesus Christ grew, but the parameters used to describe His growth are not the same with the parameters that men use to describe growth today. Growing here means 'to wax strong in Spirit', 'to be filled with wisdom', and 'to possess more of God's grace'. It didn't talk about anything physical, it didn't speak about growth in age, in size, in academic knowledge or emotions, neither did it talk about growth in influence, in money, in fame..., none of that.
… and waxed strong in spirit…
Waxing strong in spirit is different from waxing strong in the body. Many times, many things are getting better and stronger for us in the body, and we allude that to spiritual growth. A man may be daily waxing heal...

Wanted: Deep Men
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. [Luke 2:18-19]
"…all they that heard… WONDERED … but Mary… PONDERED…"
Spiritual men are deep. They know that nothing just happens without a spiritual backing. Others may be amazed at the occurrences, several ordinary people may be momentarily ecstatic when some great things happen, or they may be gloomy at the negative turns of events, some others may simply be wondering about issues, and just pass it by with few reasonings of the brain. But spiritual men know deeper, and will look from heaven's perspective, they will ponder, rather than just wonder…
Many times, God is speaking so clearly, but light men, men who are feeble, vague, carnal and worldly never receive divine insights into deep spiritual realities. They only skim things at the surface, and ...

The Time of Showing...
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel. [Luke 1:80]
...was in the deserts till the day of his showing…
The time of showing is the time the Lord brings a man out to the public. It is the time of the platform, the time God Himself publicizes a man before the public, by pouring His uncommon anointing upon him. At the time of showing, God's man never operates in his own energy, the Lord Himself takes over and works mightily through Him. This time of showing never arrives until a man has successfully passed through his deserts that the Lord has ordained for his preparation.
Many times, due to the numerous experiences we have gathered through watching great men perform, through numerous trials and errors, reading of several inspiring books or by engaging in some religious gymnastics, we think that all these can make up for, or substitute for ...

Subtle Fowls that Devour Grace...
TREASURE SEED SERIES - 5
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up. [Matthew 13:4]
What is my reaction to God's word?
•-- Do I take it for granted?
•-- Do I follow up divine revelations or inspirations?
•-- Do I lack understanding of deep things?
•-- Do I cast the precious pearls of the word before the swine? Maybe I don't accord the pearl the worth that it demands, I don't attach the necessary weights that God Himself attaches to it, I just go about discussing it with my mouth (my MOUTH is one "wayside" too many).
As The Lord sows treasures into my life, it says "some seeds" fell by the wayside. Thank God it's not ALL seeds, but some.
My concern and determination is to make sure that:
1. My wayside is well cultivated, and the ground is good enough for both GERMINATION and FRUITFULNESS when the Lord decides to sow into my way...

Receiving God's Word...
TREASURE SEED SERIES - 4
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up. [Matthew 13:4]
We started with the parable of the sower by looking at the WAYSIDE. We carefully noted that the Wayside is not bad at all, it is in fact, one of the regions of my life, where Jesus, the Sower, allows His word to fall. Since the wayside of my life is the closest way to the distractions of the outside world, where the fowls can easily reach, it is therefore, my responsibility to keep my wayside cultivated and well secured, so that divine treasures (seeds) deposited therein will remain viable, and bring forth a fruitful harvest.
As the seed of the word of God is deposited into me, what is the level of my receptivity?
•-- Is the word of God SWEET to my taste, or I have reduced the word of God to just a manual of teleguiding how the Christian life should be lived?
•-- Do I enjoy ...

WAYSIDE: THE WAY TO MY OUTSIDE
TREASURE SEED SERIES - 3
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up. [Matthew 13:4]
"...When he sowed..."
"In the process of sowing…". I should expect varying results from varying degrees while the sowing process is going on. The sowing process ought to be a continuous one. The Lord expects me to be built up into His image, therefore, He gathers some seeds to sow into my life. He wants to sow into every segment of my existence, therefore, He has different seeds for different purposes. Take note that every seed He plans to sow are not of the same shape, size and type, therefore every grain of seeds is very important. They are planted for different assignments, so that they will all germinate and I will be thoroughly furnished in every aspect of divine pruning. In addition, no single seed sown by the Sower (the Master) can replace another, each is si...

Profitable sowing...
TREASURE SEED SERIES - 2
And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow. [Matthew 13:3]
“...And He spake …”
What if after God spoke unto me, I do not have the retentive capability to keep His word? What if my soul is full of leaking vessels, and cannot retain His divine word? If no sooner had a revelation come into my life than it fizzles out again because of the activities of the day, will my life ever be a profitable one?
The greatest edifices of the world today are built by laying one stone upon another, and upon another, and upon another. What if the earlier laid stones got kicked out before newer stones came to climb on top? What if no stones found other stones upon which they were to be laid? such buildings will forever be in their foundation stages, it will be an exercise in futility, with so much being done, yet no result is seen, it will b...

The Depthless Christ...
TREASURE SEED SERIES – 1
And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow. [Matthew 13:3]
“...He spake many things…”
There is a depth in Christ that no one can fathom or fully discover, it is so deep, it is full of treasures. To actually be like Christ, I must also be like Him in depth. I must be conformed to His image. I must be deep because He is deep and full of Wisdom.
Jesus does not hide things from those who truly seek Him, He spake... He didn't begin to speak until the multitudes were gathered/come unto Him (verses 1-2). To receive insights and revelations, I must come and abide at the feet of Jesus, I must strip myself of all I know or what I am, and with the heart of a seeker, a teachable heart, learn of Him.
Jesus speaks many things... All that is needed for life, grace and ministry is present in the Lord's mouth. Allow Him to speak many ...

Disciples Indeed...
GOD'S VINEYARD SERIES - 4
And said unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. [Matthew 20:4]
"...Go ye also..."
Why is it that the Lord did not give the details of the necessary activities and all He expected to be performed in His vineyard, to these ones who were just newly recruited into His service? Was He just assuming that they would automatically know the right thing to do once they got into the vineyard? Why did He just say "go ye also into the vineyard...", and the people went their way? It is because currently in the vineyard, there are labourers already labouring. There are quite a lot of people, who have been in the vineyard labouring faithfully, whose footsteps are a clear guide for the upcoming workers to follow.
" ...go ye also..." God knows that there are some fathers who have gone before us into the vineyard, whom H...
